Using our favourite toys for mass

This week we used blocks to weigh, and measure our toys tummy, height and weight. We could use our knowledge to count in 2's to make it quicker to count all the blocks.
We helped each other to measure and record our findings in our maths books

Some of our toys were so heavy we needed lots of blocks. We helped by grouping the blocks into 10's.

Counting in 10's is so much faster.

Nickle Nackle Birds

We have been finding out about bird beaks.  Birds have different shaped beaks to use for eating different things.

We read Lynley Dodd's The Nickle Nackle Tree.  Lynley Dodd used her imagination and curiosity about birds to create new birds who sit in the Nickle Nackle tree.

What a cool idea!  We thought it would be fun to create our own birds, thinking about all the things we know about birds.... beak shapes, feet shapes, body shapes, eye shapes, feathers....

It was so much fun creating our birds!  Thanks Lynley Dodd for inspiring us with your funny artwork.

Mass Maths

We have been the comparing mass (weight) of different objects.

What can we find that weighs the same as five teddy bears?

Can we build a see-saw?  What could we use?

Can a little toy have a ride on our see-saws?

I wonder which bag is heavier?  Who will test my tricky bags to find out?
